After living in NYC for 5+ years and eating my way through Chinatown, here are my top picks for authentic Chinese food:
Xi'an Famous Foods(multiple locations) - Their spicy cumin lamb noodles are legendary. Perfect chewy hand-pulled noodles that foodies and locals obsess over.
Jing Fong(Elizabeth St) - The go-to for dim sum - massive dining room with carts full of steaming dumplings. Pro tip: go before 11am on weekends to beat the crowd.
Hwa Yuan(E Broadway) - Fancy Szechuan spot where Anthony Bourdain dined. Their double-cooked pork belly will change your life.
Fun fact: Many chefs say the real test is the Peking duck - and Decoy in West Village does it best (crispy skin + pancakes to die for). P.S. Avoid the tourist traps on Mott St - the best spots are on the side streets! Which of these have you tried? 🥢
