Is a fohawk the same as a mohawk?

  1. Not exactly. A fohawk (or fauxhawk) is like a softer, more casual version of a mohawk.

    Mohawk: Both sides of the head are shaved completely, leaving a strip of longer hair down the middle.

    Fohawk: The sides aren’t shaved all the way; instead, the hair is styled to mimic a mohawk shape, usually by spiking or slicking the middle strip of hair up, but the sides still have hair.

    Think of a fohawk as a “fake” mohawk—less extreme and easier to wear daily.
