What are the safe temperature ranges for freezers and refrigerators, and when should food be discarded after a power outage?

    Freezer: Keep at 0°F (-18°C) or lower.

    After a Power Outage:
    Refrigerated food: Safe for 4 hours if the door stays closed. Discard if over 4 hours.

    Frozen food: Safe for 48 hours (if unopened). Discard if over 2 hours at above 40°F.

    Use a thermometer to check temperatures and discard questionable food.
