  1. When a TV show airs at "9/8c", it means:

It airs at 9:00 PM Eastern Time (ET)

And at 8:00 PM Central Time (CT)

The "c" stands for Central. So “9/8c” tells viewers in different U.S. time zones when to tune in.

    Why it’s done this way:
TV networks often broadcast shows simultaneously across the Eastern and Central time zones, even though they’re in different time zones. So a show that airs at 9 PM in New York (Eastern Time) will air at 8 PM in Chicago (Central Time).

    What about other time zones?
Mountain Time (MT) and Pacific Time (PT) schedules can vary:

Sometimes they follow the Central time airing (so they see it at 7 PM or 6 PM local time)

Other times, it’s delayed to air at 9 PM local time

But for national advertising and promos, networks usually just say “9/8c” because Eastern and Central cover the largest population.

So “9/8c” is really a quick way of saying: "It’s on at 9 PM Eastern, 8 PM Central, check your local listings if you’re elsewhere."

  2. Great question! When a TV show airs at “9/8c,” it means:

9 PM Eastern Time / 8 PM Central Time

    Here’s how it works:

Eastern Time (ET) and Central Time (CT) are two major U.S. time zones.

A lot of national broadcasts use this format to let viewers know when to tune in, depending on where they live.

So if a show airs at 9/8c, it starts at:

9:00 PM in the Eastern Time Zone

8:00 PM in the Central Time Zone

And usually, Mountain and Pacific Time zones air it either delayed or with a separate listing like “9/8c/6 PT” or “check local listings.”

It’s just TV-speak for making sure you don’t miss your show depending on where you are in the U.S. 😉

Ever miss a favorite episode because the time zone thing threw you off? You’re not alone!
